Why I Created DesignSwiss
July 29, 2026
I Started DesignSwiss as a way to blend modern technology with traditional hand-crafted and carefully designed pieces.
The Early Years
Growing up, I had the opportunity to watch my grandfather and father, Swiss carpenters and engineers, build and fix everything from toys to cars to houses. As I grew up, I was able to participate along side them, with my first carburetor rebuild of a 1974 Chevy pickup. Over the years I continued to work with them building furniture, installing lighting fixtures, and expanding on the trade.
In college, and without the space for many tools, I turned my attention to technology. Eventually, I began building custom computers and helping small businesses set up their devices.
My Own Shop
When Covid hit, like many people, I began looking for productive ways to keep busy so I decided to start making small hand-crafted wood pieces and custom furniture. First just for family and friends but eventually neighbors and and others in the community began asking for cutting boards, custom wood handles for tools, and eventually refinishing furniture. So I decided it was the right time to put a brand with the work and created DesignSwiss.
A Modern Take on an Old Craft
With a blend of technology and a love for woodworking, DesignSwiss was born. Today, I enjoy helping people make their house a home. Whether that's making it smarter, automating the mundane, building custom pieces, or a bit of both, DesignSwiss is your neighborhood partner.
